Pier Cellars
Diving
Pier Cellars starts from the steps leading down to the water from underneath the old Customs House which has been newly renovated. The site is ideal for novices and is extremely sheltered from winds SSW to NNW.
Care should be taken by divers diving on the ebb tide not to venture too far around Rame Head as this area gets particularly disturbed and rough between tides. There is a lot of kelp growth and other plant life you would expect in the relative shallows, along with a range of interesting marine life including some nice flat fish on the sand east of the reef. This site is usually a choice if we are unfortunate to have strong winds from the western quarter.
